Alaska was rescued by a wonderful Italian couple living and offering tour-rides and lessons in Sharm el-Sheik, Egypt. Alaska was rescued from being forced to dance using traditional harsh bits that are extremely painful. The owners had already done a great job with her, but she was still very nervous and anxious in certain situations and had developed mental blockages and undesired behaviors. As always whenever possible, I started working with her in liberty, which gives the horse the opportunity to choose to connect on its own. I discovered that Alaska was a horse with a deep desire to connect and follow, she needed a safe leader to follow. But the pain she had been trough was still stuck in her body, she was very uncomfortable with physical touch. We went for a free ride in the desert, creating a completely new experience for her, without any bit, any pressure or stress. Letting her loose to discover on her own that stones are not dangerous, just staying with her as a safe companion while she explores in her own pace.
